drew_north_pacific_200952Algalita Marine Research and Education is offering a new laboratory internship to college students majoring in environmental or marine sciences. The work involves sorting and characterizing plastic debris in ocean samples collected during our 2014 expedition to the North Pacific Gyre. You will be working with Captain Moore and Algalita research staff in one of our lab facilities: the ORV Alguita in Belmont Shore, the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP) lab in Costa Mesa, or our SEALab facilityin Redondo Beach. The selected candidate must be available two days per week for three hours each day during the 2015 spring quarter/semester, and will be able to begin by the first week of February.
