Clara H. Whyte
Clara H. Whyte is an independent specialist in sustainable development and international affairs based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
She holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development Economics from the University of Versailles (France), as well as a Master’s degree in Political Science from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po Paris, France).
Ever since 1999, Clara has participated in a wide variety of projects and studies, mainly in Canada and in Latin America, aimed at promoting economic development in a sustainable way from the local practical level to the global policy-oriented level.
She is convinced that culture, socio-economic development and environmental conservation go hand in hand, and aims at using anthropological tools to understand and engage stakeholders in tackling major environmental issues across scales, cultures, disciplines and even generations. Hence her motto: “Thinking and Acting in Complexity”.
Clara has traveled and lived all over the world; she speaks fluently French, English, Portuguese and Spanish, has a good command of German and is learning Mandarin Chinese.
