Since first traveling to the Ecuadorian Amazon in 1995, Leila has been committed to defending the Amazon, indigenous peoples rights and our global climate.
After 10 years of international advocacy and corporate accountability campaign work with Amazon Watch (Clean Up Ecuador Campaign), Rainforest Action Network (Agribusiness Campaign) and Global Exchange (Corporate Accountability & Peace Campaigns), she became Program Director at Amazon Watch in 2010 overseeing the organization's programs and campaigns in Brazil, Peru and Ecuador.
In 2015, Leila began leading Amazon Watch as Interim Executive Director. Leila is a graduate of Green Corps, the training school for environmental leaders, and the University of California at Santa Barbara.
She is a proud Chicana and mother of two.
