Socially-conscious outdoor gear company Patagonia continues its stellar stream of documentaries with The Refgue. The 15-minute-long film highlights the decades-long struggle of the indigenous Gwich’in people as they fend off fossil-fuel companies eager to drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), which the Gwich’in call “the Sacred Place Where Life Begins.” Caribou migrate to this vast, coastal plain to calve their young, and the Gwich’in depend on them for survival. After you watch the film, please consider signing this petition to defend the Arctic Refuge from oil drilling.
