I’m hosting Climate Action Santa Monica’s alternative transportation forum this Sunday. It’s not a moment too soon to be committing to a life with less car miles/hours.
2015 has been a year of frightening climate change records: hottest year to date; the last days of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration under 400ppm – from now on it will be 400 plus; and we’ll soon be at one degree Celsius warming – the agreed upon safety warming zone is TWO degrees Celsius by 2100!
The fourth annual Climate Action Santa Monica (CASM) forum will highlight the Expo train line, which will be operational this coming Spring, as well as bikes and buses – the other modes of this particular alternative transport revolution.
Santa Monica Mayor, Kevin McKeown, and councilor, Pam O’Connor, will be speaking about their upcoming participation in the Paris Climate Change Conference COP21.
The forum aims to provide information on the how climate change will affect the public on a local level and beyond, while highlighting the solutions that will bring more resilience to communities and the city closer to its climate neutrality goal.
The event is at the Church in Ocean Park, 235 Hill Street, Santa Monica 90405. Learn more at this link!
