Benthic Underwater Microscope Helps Scientists Better Understand Coral

From big to small, our oceans are filled with incredible life. While large animals, such as whales and sharks, get most of the attention, technology is showing size doesn’t matter when it comes to sheer beauty and amazement.

According to the Scripps Oceanography YouTube account, “A new microscopic imaging system is revealing a never-before-seen view of the underwater world. Researchers from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego have designed and built a diver-operated underwater microscope to study millimeter-scale processes as they occur naturally on the seafloor.”
