The biggest global climate action gathering since Paris lands on the shores of San Francisco this week. Its mission is to celebrate the transformational achievements of local governments, businesses, investors, and citizens, and to serve as a launchpad for deeper engagement and accelerated commitments — all while striving towards a goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
In addition to the anchor Global Climate Action Summit, hundreds of affiliate events — film festivals, art installations, workshops, tours, exhibits, and panel discussions — are taking place around the San Francisco Bay Area, including the two-day Village Well Symposium in which Planet Experts is a proud collaborator.
The Village Well Symposium will feature a diverse collection of presenters from the science & technology, indigenous & youth leadership, art & activism, and impact investing sectors. Speakers and performers include CNN Contributor and Author Van Jones; former Presidents of Chile and Ireland, respectively, Ricardo Lagos and Mary Robinson; filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg; Leila Salazar-Lopez of Amazon Watch; Amanda Ravenhill of the Buckminster Fuller Institute; Tom and Dallas Goldtooth of the Indigenous Environmental Network; Katharine Wilkinson of Project Drawdown; Christina Hollenback of the NEXUS Working Group on Equal Justice; and many other well-respected activists, artists, and visionaries.
Taking place on September 13-14 at The Village, a state-of-the-art event space near San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center, the Village Well Symposium’s programming has been designed to equip every attendee with concrete, implementable short and long-term action steps to positively impact the planet and foster dynamic and resilient communities.
But don’t worry if you’re stuck in the office or can’t catch a flight to San Francisco — this historic live event will be webcast in real time so that, no matter where you are, you can participate in this vital conversation.
