Patient Whale Shark Rescued by Diver

Whale sharks are colossal. According to a post by Planet Experts Organization Mission Blue, “Weighing in close to 45,000 pounds and nearing 40 feet in length, the whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is the world’s largest living fish species.” Despite their tremendous size, whale sharks still get trapped in fishing lines, which was the case in this incredible video.

With no way of getting free, the shark relies on the help of a caring diver. It’s quite amazing how the shark appears to slow down to let the diver free it of its burden. We love a story where the good in humanity trumps the evil. Video via The Smithsonian Channel.
