W. Douglas Smith

W. Douglas Smith is an environmental scientist, environmental diplomat, explorer and educator.

He is a retired Senior Compliance Investigator for the U.S. EPA (36 years) and conducted multimedia inspections and investigations (CWA,CAA,TSCA, FIFRA, Suspension and Debarment, RCRA, SuperFund) of the most complex facilities in the U.S..

He's developed protocols and training materials for EPA, the World Bank Institute, and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

From 1962 through 1992, he was the owner/operator of an adventure travel company that began the concept of eco-trekking in the Himalayas and around the world.

He is currently (since 2013) the developer and Editor of The Blue Marble Report, focusing on climate change and sustainable development.
